it was before the summer that @stevebunce approached me with an idea for a cpd event. I was keen to support him but the more I heard the more I thought it couldn't happen.

He had no budget and no venue and wanted to give every delegate a chair! Hmm. I couldn't see how we could do this.

Steve then tells me that he's persuaded a number of great speakers to come for free! Next he shows me the huge space at the OU. It is an impressive space.. with no power, internet or furniture. It was a.. space.

Despite all this I managed to persuade my Northern Grid colleagues that we should commit to the event and provide the event administration.

And so..with the boundlessly optimistic Steve organising the people and venue and our diligent and patient event manager, Lianne, managing the registrations and delegates, the event began to take shape.

And what a success!

Fantastic speakers, great food, free WiFi and .. every delegate got their very own chair.. to take home!

What have I learned? Have faith in creativity and imagination..the other stuff will happen if you want it to.
